It's
Valderrama-rama at Silverbacks on Sunday By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
If you are a fan of soccer, you have seen the bright golden curls of Carlos Valderrama. This Sunday, Aug. 15, you can see him up close at the Atlanta Silverbacks game against the Charleston Battery. Valderrama will sign autographs from 5 - 6 p.m. and will play a three on three game with five lucky fans at half time. Valderrama has been captain of the Colombian national team for over a decade. He has played in three world cups, five Copa Americas and has 112 international caps playing for Colombia. He currently plays for the Tampa Bay Mutiny team in MLS. He was the first player chosen by the Mutiny in the expansion draft in 1996. As Atlanta continues to work toward the success of professional soccer, the support of stars like Carlos is incredibly important, said Silverbacks general manager Mike Balson. He knows that Atlanta has a strong soccer community and a very active Hispanic community, and Carlos is coming here to show his support for the professional game. Kickoff of the Silverbacks/Battery game will be at 6 p.m. Tickets are $7 for fans ages 3 and older and can be purchased at the gate or by phone at 404-377-5575. The Silverbacks play at DeKalb Memorial Stadium on Memorial Drive, just outside I-285.
