A shoplifting incident in Peachtree City led to a guilty verdict in Fayette County State Court earlier this week.

Timothy Jowett was convicted Tuesday in a bench trial before Judge Fletcher Sams of stealing video cassettes from Blockbuster Video. He received 12 months in jail.

Kerry Lee Weathers was found guilty Monday by a six-member jury of theft by taking and also got 12 months in jail. He was convicted of stealing a bicycle Feb. 14 in Fairburn.

Two cases ended with plea agreements early this week. Jimmy Lee Durden pled guilty to simple battery and received a 12-month jail sentence, while Clifton J. Phillips got 12 months probation and $700 fine plus other costs for marijuana possession.

All State Court cases are misdemeanors.
