Home Depot site plan delayed

A conceptual site plan review for what would be the largest retail establishment in Peachtree City has been put on hold for at least two weeks.

Home Depot was originally scheduled to be on the Planning Commission's agenda for Monday night, but that was scrapped because of some questions the city wanted to address concerning the plan, such as parking, according to city planner David Rast.

The home improvement retailer is planning a 130,000-sq. ft. facility, including the garden center, for its proposed site in the Kedron Village shopping center at Ga. Highway 74 and Peachtree Parkway, Rast said. The store would be behind Kroger, which contains about 60,000 square feet.

Other new agenda items still on the schedule for Monday include a landscape plan for Commerce Place on Commerce Drive and a conceptual site plan for the Robinson Neighborhood Center at Peachtree Parkway and Robinson Road.

A public hearing is set for a proposed amendment to zoning conditions for the Lallande/Scott property on Ga. Highway 54, from LUR-8 to LUR-9 (limited use residential).

Other projects currently under review by city staff include the final site plan for The Avenue, a shopping center being built at the southwest corner of Hwys. 54 and 74. City officials visited a similar development Wednesday in east Cobb County as guests of Cousins Properties, who is responsible for both sites.

The city also is reviewing the final site plan for parking improvements at the Photocircuits facility at 320 Dividend Drive.

Revised preliminary plats for the Kedron Office Park subdivision at Hwy. 74 and Peachtree Parkway and phase two of The Park industrial subdivision on Gardner Drive are now being reviewed by city staff, as is the revised final plat for the International Drive extension on Southpark Drive.

Revised plans should be forthcoming from developers concerning a proposed apartment complex on Line Creek Parkway, the Flat Creek Crossing subdivision's Astoria Lane extension, and the Royal Highlands subdivision at Avalon Park.

Driveway improvements at NationsBank in the Braelinn Village retail center are under review.

The city is monitoring construction of a new practice athletic field at McIntosh High School and working with the adjoining property owners as well as the Board of Education to see that all items mentioned in the conceptual site plan are addressed.

According to city staff, the cart path connection is near completion and a conceptual landscape plan for the area is being developed.

A master plan for the Hwy. 54/Walt Banks Road property, developed by Wood and Partners in Hilton Head, S.C., has been received by the city. A proposed development by Bob Adams Homes on a portion of that site has already been approved, and the city is working with Adams to incorporated ideas from the master plan into his development.

City staff was scheduled to meet recently with the property manager of the NationsBank automated teller machine at Peachtree Crossing to review a revised lighting and building elevation plan.

The city has recently been awarded two grants from the Transportation Improvements Act program. A $60,000 grant will be used for construction of the cart path bridge over Flat Creek, connecting the existing cart path adjacent to Morallion Hills with the industrial park. An $80,000 grant will be used to implement the next phase of landscaping on Hwy. 54 from Lake Peachtree to Peachtree Parkway.
