After a month of research, the Senoia City Council decided Monday night to pay the city's yearly dues to the Chattahoochee-Flint Regional Development Center. Council decided to pay the dues after receiving a report from the center outlining the work the planning agency has done for the last four years. In July, the council voted to wait for further information before paying the dues. Mayor Joan Trammell said she would like to see a list from the RDC on grants the agency has helped the city write and the success rate of the grants before agreeing to pay the dues. During Monday night's council meeting, the council members looked at the report and learned how many projects the center had worked on for the city. Some of the projects included: Helped the city engineer with a community development block grant application in 1997. The grant was won and the city received $500,000 to help provide sewerage to the city's low-income residents. Served as the city's zoning administrator for several months in 1997. Worked with the city Planning Commission to rewrite Senoia's zoning ordinances in 1998. Compiled a lake reservoir management plan for Hutchinson's Lake in 1998. Conducted Census 2000 training with the city's staff. Trammell thanked the center for providing the report and recommended the city pay its dues for another year. The measure passed unanimously.
