Bank robbery suspect
arrested By MONROE ROARK
Staff Writer
A suspect in last
week's Fayette County bank robbery is now in
custody.
According to a
written statement issued by the Fayette County
Sheriff's Department, Danny Eugene Daniel was
picked up at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday
without incident by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation's Metro Fugitive Squad, which the
Sheriff's Department participates in.
Authorities
received information that Daniel was in the
southwest Atlanta area before the arrest was
made. No one directly involved in the arrest was
available for comment by press time, and a
spokesman for the Sheriff's Department did not
know where Daniel was picked up.
Daniel, 26,
allegedly robbed the Talbot State Bank on Ga.
Highway 138 near the Clayton County line the
morning of July 28, escaping into the woods
behind the bank after a dye pack in his bag
exploded. Nearly all of the money was recovered
that day by law enforcement and bank officials.
Video surveillance
cameras at the bank got several good images of
the robber, and a good deal of evidence was left
at the scene for investigators, Maj. Bruce Jordan
of the Sheriff's Department said last week.
Authorities had the
suspect identified at least a day before the
arrest, while continuing to search for him,
police said.
