Newsbriefs

Developer Randy Hayes has asked that Fayetteville City Council members table his request for annexation and rezoning of a proposed medical office building and bank next to Fayette Community Hospital on Ga. Highway 54.

And Dr. Gerald Goldklang has withdrawn his request for annexation of a planned office building on the other side of the hospital. Both proposals are on Ga. Highway 54.

City Council is expected to act tomorrow on a proposed new Medical Office zoning category designed to encourage a campus-like setting for office projects in the hospital area, and had planned to act on the Hayes and Goldklang proposals at the same time.

Hayes is expected to bring his proposal back to the table after getting approval from the hospital to tie access to his parcel into the hospital's parking area. Council members earlier insisted on the joint access as part of what's needed to bring about the campus setting that city officials desire.

Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Holbrooks' request for annexation and rezoning of their home next to the hospital will remain on the agenda for tomorrow's council meeting. The couple hope to sell the home to Fayette Dental Aesthetics, a dental laboratory, for its office.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

, Fayette Heritage Project will ask the Fayette County Commission for permission to put signs on county roads marking historic communities during the commission's meeting Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the County Administrative Complex.
