Registration tips for new students offered by Coweta School System

Registration will be conducted at individual schools.

For attendance zone information, call the office of the director of operations at 770-254-2736 or the transportation office at 770-254-2820.

Elementary schools (grades Pre-K through 5) will have registration Aug. 2 and 3 from 8:30 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m.

Pre-K students must be 4 years old by Sept. 1. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1. First grade students must be 6 years old by Sept. 1.

Middle schools (grades six through eight) and high schools (grades nine through 12) will register students Aug. 3 and 4 from 8:30 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m.

Parents should bring the following:

• Georgia immunization certificate (including hepatitis B inoculations).

• Vision/hearing, dental screening certificates.

• Sixth graders need proof of MMR and booster.

• Social Security card.

• Birth certificate.

• Records such as transcripts and last report card from previous school.

Immunization and health screenings can be obtained from private physicians and from the Coweta County Health Department. The county health department gives immunizations and screenings Monday through Friday from 8 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3:30 p.m. with no appointment necessary at its Newnan office. For more efficient service, bring copies of all former immunization records with you.

The costs are $10 per shot plus $3 for the certificate at the health department. The vision/hearing/dental screening is $18 plus $3 for the certificate. For information, call the Health Department at 770-254-7400.

Orientation for elementary and middle schools will be Aug. 11 from 1 - 3 p.m.
