Hospital stages exercise

Fayette Community Hospital conducted a mass casualty incident exercise last Wednesday along with the Fayetteville Fire Department and the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Using an area behind the hospital as a stage, the exercise simulated a vehicle accident involving a passenger van and a school bus.

The ten “victims,” all of whom were volunteers from the hospital's auxiliary, were triaged at the scene before being transported to the Emergency Department.

The main objective of the exercise was to test the hospital's emergency facilities and staff in a mass casualty situation, while identifying potential improvements to its overall community preparedness plan and improving coordination with local fire and emergency medical personnel.
