Several well-known fitness celebrities mingled with local residents at the recent grand opening of World Gym in Peachtree City.

Joining the special event were world-renowned Olympic swimmer Steve Lundquist, former Miss Georgia Camille Baily and former Miss Fitness International Carol Semple. Throughout the facility are mementos of famous strong man Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is associated with the gym chain nationwide.

World Gym owner Dar Thompson became involved with the franchise chain at the encouragement of Schwarzenegger's nephew, who is a friend of Thompson's.

The Peachtree City location is raffling off a logo leather jacket that has been personally autographed by the famous movie actor and body builder, with the proceeds going to the Inner City Games.

Thompson is a proponent of his facility because it offers the community a program that is tailored towards individuals and families.

“There is a misconception that all exercise equipment is the same and will yield the same result. This is not the case. We carry the top-of-the-line equipment, which no other gym in the area can claim, ”he said.

World Gym has more than 25 instructors and trainers who have a combined 60 plus certifications and degrees in health and fitness fields.
