Nine churches will combine in 'unity' service this Sunday at River's Edge

Nine churches will gather as one this weekend for a “Unity Celebration of Christ. The special service is scheduled for Sunday evening, July 25, at 6 p.m. at River's Edge Community Church, 1091 Jeff Davis Dr., South in Fayetteville.

“This particular unity service didn't come about because of advance calendaring, but because of caring and loving relationships between us pastors,” said Dr. John Hatcher, pastor of River's Edge. “We were all sitting around the breakfast table and agreed it was time.”

Churches participating include Timberlake Church of the Nazarene, Dale Taylor, pastor; Community Christian Church, Dean Phelps, pastor; Heritage Harvest Church, Ron Stribling, pastor; Fayetteville Church of God, Roger Powell, pastor; His House Community Church, Knox Herndon, pastor; North Fayette Baptist Church, Jim Willis, pastor; Antioch Baptist Church, Elton Johnson, pastor; Edgefield Baptist Church, Eddie Thomas, pastor; and River's Edge Community Church, John Hatcher, pastor.

The Rev. Dale Taylor of Timberlake will bring the evening message, and the Rev. Roger Powell of the Church of God and Glen Dow, music minister at North Fayette Baptist, will sing solos. The Rev. Ray Walker will lead a combined music team in leading the congregation in worship.

The Rev. T.W. Snider, 91 years old and the senior minister among southside pastors, will pray for the gathering.

Members of other churches are invited to participate. Dr. Hatcher advised those attending to arrive early for good seating.
