Only days after Jim Pace announced that he is vacating his seat on the City Council of Peachtree City at the end of this year, the first would-be successor has jumped into the fray. Charles (Chuck) D. Lehman, an 18-year resident of Peachtree City, has announced his intention to run for the Post 2 seat on the City Council this fall. According to a written statement issued July 1, Lehman is running because of his love for the city. He wants to see new programs for the youth of the city and ecology put to the forefront when developers want new building programs, the statement said. Lehman says he is not being backed by any special interest group and is making himself available to anyone who wishes to talk about the issues affecting Peachtree City. A former chief operating officer and vice president of marketing for Hi-Brand Foods, the first industrial company to come to Peachtree City, Lehman has 36 years of business experience, including various positions with Oscar Mayer and Co. as well as operating his own gourmet food business. His wife of 38 years, Myrna, is a teacher in the Fulton County school system. The Lehmans have two grown children. Lehman has a bachelor of science degree in business from Miami University of Ohio and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. He lectures out of state on marketing and management subjects, and is an adjunct instructor at Georgia Military College (Ft. McPherson) and Central Michigan University's College of Extended Learning. He also has been an adjunct instructor at Bowling Green State University and Indiana University. Lehman is a member of Peacthree City United Methodist Church.
