Church League softball has been exciting this summer... that is, when the teams get a chance to play.

Stormy weather has sidelined most of the games before the weekend of the Fourth. They will be rescheduled, but there are doubleheaders and weekend games in the weeks ahead.

New Hope leads the women's division, with a record of 10-1. In their last game, they handed Fayette First Baptist an 8-3 loss. New Hope was scheduled to play Kenwood Christian Monday evening. New Hope is being tailed by Flat Creek with a record of 8-2. First Methodist and Corinth Baptist are tied for third with a record of 6-5.

In the men's “A” division, Flat Creek has a record of 11-0 and a three-game lead over New Hope Blue. In Flat Creek's last game, they defeated Kenwood Christian 12-9. New Hope Gold had an offensive shootout with Southern Crescent, edging them out 15-14. New Hope Blue defeated Fayette First Baptist “A” 17-6. New Hope Blue and Flat Creek were scheduled to meet on the playing fields last night.

The men's “B” division is very competitive. Fayetteville Christian is atop the standings at 6-1, but First Methodist and River's Edge “B” are right behind them with records of 5-3 and 5-4 respectively. In their last games, Fayetteville Christian hammered Flat Creek “B” 17-7, First Christian defeated Kenwood Baptist 14-4, and River's Edge “B” edged out Kenwood Baptist 6-5.

Rolling Hills Baptist and Harp's Crossing “C” are tied in the men's “C” division with records of 10-1. These two teams faced each other head to head in their last games and Rolling Hills walked away the obvious victors, winning 25-8. Fayette Presbyterian is the only other team in the division with a winning record (6-5). They handed North Fayette United Methodist a 14-5 loss in their last game.

Woolsey Baptist is undefeated in the men's “D” division with a record of 7-0. Prince of Peace and Harp's Crossing “D” are tied for second place with a record of 4-3. Woolsey Baptist defeated Prince of Peace 7-0 in their last game.

The men's “E” division is another competitive division. Fayette First Baptist “E” leads the division with a 6-1 record, LDS-Whitewater is in second with a record of 5-1 and Fayette Community is right behind at 6-2. LDS Whitewater led Flat Creek “E” 11-1 before the game was called due to rain. Fayette Community will face Fayette First Baptist “E” Friday night.

All rained out games will be rescheduled before the tournament July 30-31.
