deplores tree cutting Next to McIntosh High School on Walt Banks Road, a huge grove of trees has been destroyed. Along with them went unknown numbers of wildlife and their habitats. This area was cleared for an additional sport's practice field. I do not disagree with the need for an additional practice area. However, the project was done without forethought and common sense. Just too many trees are now gone; far more were taken from the landscape than was necessary. I am concerned about the aftermath of the destruction, that being a sea of mud that is now in a once-natural creek in the wooded area that extends to Stevens Entry. How will the tons of mud affect the topography in that area? This decision was made by Fayette County Board of Education, making it harder to understand than if an outsider had taken such an action. How can we teach our children to respect nature, when our board of education is sending our children and community such a negative message? Myrna W. Lehman
