Commission to
discuss closing county
animal shelter Saturdays A short
agenda will greet the Fayette County Board of
Commissioners at its meeting today.
Four
items are on the agenda.
Under
old business:
Commissioners will
discuss statistics from the county animal shelter
with an eye to possibly ending the practice of
opening the shelter on Saturdays. Activity on
weekends may not justify the cost of opening,
officials say.
A transportation
proposal, presented at an earlier meeting, will
get additional discussion. Stuart Hoff's plan to
provide public transportation in Fayette needs
official county backing, he told commissioners
earlier. He will elaborate today.
Under
new business:
Arnie Geiger wants
to discuss a proposed name change for Will Adams
Road, to Willie Adams Road.
Commissioners will
discuss purchase of a road striping machine.
On
the group's consent agenda, a list of items that
require no discussion and are voted on as a
group, commissioners are expected to approve a
budget adjustment for the county water system,
carrying over $173,050 from the 1999 budget to
the 2000 budget.
Commissioners
ordinarily conduct a work session on first
Wednesdays and a business meeting second
Thursdays, but the second Thursday meeting is
cancelled this month because it falls the day
after the first Wednesday meeting.
The
next commission meeting will be July 22.
