Racers from region do well at AMS

The Thursday Thunder Legends Racing Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway has been offering exciting racing action for local racing fans recently.

It also has given some exciting action to local racers in all divisions of Legends racing. Drivers from Peachtree City, Fayetteville, Tyrone, Newnan and Senoia, as well as many other areas in metro Atlanta, compete every Thursday night in the 10-week racing series.

Last week's action had Reid Sorenson of Peachtree City finishing first in the Jet Food Stores Semi-Pro division for the second week in a row. He led the race from start to end, dominating the other drivers. Jim Thomasson of Newnan finished in fourth place in the Citizen Bank Chargers division. He started the race in fifth place.

In the Computer Concepts Masters Division, Steve Dale of Peachtree City started the race in fourth place and moved up to a second place finish. The Conkle Tree Service Pro division had two racers from Fayetteville finishing in sixth and ninth place respectively. Russ Emick took sixth place, while Kenny Daniel finished in ninth place.

The Cintas Young Lions division had the most racers in it. Brandon McElroy of Newnan finished in fifth place. He started the race in 10th place. Jody Knowles of Tyrone started and finished the race in ninth place, while Bubba Pollard of Senoia finished the race in 12th place.

Thursday Thunder guarantees intense racing action every Thursday for the rest of the summer. All seven divisions race each week, with heat races beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children 6-11.

Atlanta Motor Speedway also usually has some form of exhibition or display available for fans to enjoy between the racing. Parking is free.
