Administrators swap
positions as

Staff Writer
Nearly
20 principal transfers, promotions and job titles
were recommended to the Fayette County Board of
Education Monday night by superintendent Dr. John
DeCotis, and approved unanimously by the
five-member board.
The
intent of the proposal is to make adjustments in
our organizational structure based on recent
resignations, current job responsibilities of
employees and system-wide needs, DeCotis
said.
The
following changes were made:
Move Fred
Oliver from executive director of operations to
assistant superintendent.
Change Jerry
Whitaker's title from coordinator of vocational
education and grants to coordinator of vocational
education, land acquisition and facility
planning.
Move Dr. Debra
Crockett from the exceptional children department
to the pupil services department.
Promote Sam
Sweat from vice principal to principal of Starr's
Mill High School.
Promote Barbara
Bakelaar from vice principal to principal of
Rising Starr Middle School to principal of Rising
Starr Middle School.
Replace Dr.
Dennis Chamberlain (who is now superintendent of
Lamar County Schools) with an assistant principal
at Starr's Mill High School.
Move Juliette
Babb as principal of Fayette Middle School to the
central office as school improvement and grants
assistant.
Replace the
coordinator of purchasing with a purchasing
agent. Raise Gerline Evans and Terri Gerhardt to
purchasing agents, raising their pay grade.
Move Eddie
Pollard, principal of Flat Rock Middle School, to
principal of Tyrone Elementary School.
Move Dr. Mary
Perry from principal of Tyrone Elementary School
to principal of Fayette Evening High School.
Open up the
principal's slot at Flat Rock Middle School.
Move the
department of human resources to report directly
to Fred Oliver.
Move the
directors of elementary and secondary operations
to report directly to the superintendent with
indirect reporting to Fred Oliver and Stuart
Benett.
Move Kathy
Smith from superintendent's clerk to secretary to
Annie Masters, who is executive secretary to the
superintendent.
Move Lisa
Fitzgerald, Chamberlain's secretary, to work for
the community school to schedule the facilities
for internal and external purposes at the south
complex.
Change Mike
Satterfield's title from acting director of
facilities services to director of facilities
services.
Change Karen
Spangler's title to social worker.
Have principals
evaluated by the superintendent and assistants
instead of the director of operations.
