Katherine Anliker, 25, of Fayetteville signed the lease on her dream March 4. Two months and countless hours of painting, ordering and organizing later, she opened the doors of her very own stationery store called `By Invitation Only...'

Located on the corner of Glynn St. across from the historic Fayette County Court House, Anliker's fledgling business carries a full line of wedding stationery plus invitations, upscale paper products and unique home accessories and gifts.

“Business has been great so far,” she reported, after her first month in operation. Anliker said she has always wanted to run a stationery store. “It's something I've wanted to do since I was a little girl.”

She took a temporary detour for several years, teaching at the middle school level in south Forsyth County. But the urge to create a little niche in the world of commerce, filled with beautiful and unusual products finally came to fruition this spring. “It's a combination of the things I love... “Pretty paper, layout and graphics,” Anliker said.

She does all printing on the premises, which speeds up production to one or two days. The store has an enormous selection of invitations ready to be printed with any personalized message, Anliker said. “We also have several albums featuring invitations customers can order from outside vendors.”

In addition to specialized paper and invitations, Anliker carries some hard-to-find items like sealing wax and brass seals. Magnetic invitations, clever place card holders and a delicate assortment of baby gifts round out the store's inventory. Anliker has also been approached by some local artists who wish to display their work.

She already carries a stationery line by Sharpsburg artist Karen Roadcup and some beautifully decorated gourds which are fashioned into planters and wren houses.

`By Invitation Only...' is at 119 South Glynn St. Phone (770) 719-9758 or FAX (770) 719-9759. Email:cmanliker@mindspring.com. Open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
