Peachtree City firefighters will be standing on local street corners today and Saturday with boot in hand. For the second straight year, the Fire Department is taking part in the Give Burns the Boot fund drive, raising money for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Money raised helps burn victims and their families throughout the state. Grady Hospital's burn center is one of the chief recipients of these funds, and part of the money is used to help support educational programs that help children learn to protect themselves from burns. The Peachtree City Fire Department is comprised of both volunteer and career firefighters and emergency medical personnel, and they will be giving their time and effort to participate in this event. They will be looking to top last year's total of more than $3,300 collected for the Burn Foundation.
