Fayetteville First UMC adds new youth minister and organist

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church recently added two new members to its staff.

D. Scott Hagan has assumed duties as youth minister and Rick Massengale is the new organist.

Hagan, a native of Statesboro, and the grandson of a United Methodist Minister, is a graduate of Georgia Tech and will complete his studies toward his MBA from Georgia Southern University in July. He will begin work in theology at Emory this fall and will relocate to Fayetteville. He has worked as a manager of Bobby Cremins' Georgia Tech basketball team and has coached and recruited at Tech, Clayton State and Columbus College. He will tour with the pre-Olympic basketball team in July.

Massengale is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor's degree in music education and a Master's in organ performance. He has played professionally in churches for 26 years—9 as an organist and 17 as an organist/choir director. He lives in Fayetteville with his wife, Jeannine, and his daughter, Lyndsey.

“We welcome these fine people of faith to the FUMC community,” said Pastor Sam Matthews. “We look forward to growing relationships with them and to the wonderful contributions which they will make toward the cause of Christ among us.”
