The Optimist Club of Peachtree City conducted its junior golf tournament at Flat Creek Country Club recently.

Local youths poured out to tee it off and try to qualify for the Georgia District Championships, also to be at Flat Creek this summer.

The winners in the boys' divisions were Bill Barlow, Travis Franke, Wesley Hunt, and Kyle Peterzalek. Matt Taylor, Ben McKoon and Chris Hadzick were runners-up.

Taylor was forced into a sudden death playoff with Bill Baker for the runner-up position in the 16-18 division. Taylor won by a stroke.

Lee Jones and Kimberley Collins won in the girls' divisions, while Kim Krajovic was a runner up. The winners and runners-up will face the top competitors in the state at the Georgia District Championships.

A win at the districts sends the golfers to the Optimist Club International Junior Golf Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. in July. The top junior golfers from around the world will compete and the highlight show will air on ESPN and ESPN International.
