Geoff Melymuk, a recent graduate of McIntosh High School, received All Metro track honors from the Atlanta Track Club at a recent ceremony.

Melymuk was a state champion in the 3,200-meter run. He was the first male runner from McIntosh to win a state championship and be named to the All Metro track team.

He will attend West Virginia University in the fall on a full scholarship. He also received a $500 track scholarship from the Peachtree City Running Club. Before he becomes a Mountaineer, though, Melymuk will spend his summer running in national meets with the Quicksilver Track Club.

He will defend his national United States Track and Field Junior Olympic steeplechase championship at the end of July in Nebraska. Melymuk was one of the most prolific runners at McIntosh High School, setting numerous records and a positive example on the trails and track.
