Firemen rescue boy,
7, from burning house By MONROE ROARK
Staff Writer
Firefighters
responding to a call Friday morning in Peachtree
City rescued a 7-year-old boy from an upstairs
room in a burning house.
The
kitchen was apparently the origin of the fire at
106 Kings Ridge in the Wynnmeade subdivision,
according to Capt. Ed Eiswerth of the Peachtree
City Fire Department.
When
firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after
11 a.m. they found smoke everywhere, Eiswerth
said. It was then that residents told fire
department personnel the boy was still upstairs.
Chris
Campbell and Cery Fannin went in through the
front door and up the stairs in search of the
youngster, while other firefighters worked to
contain the blaze on the first floor. The child
was found under a bed, Eiswerth said.
He
was brought out through the front door and
stabilized by fire department personnel before
being transported to Fayette Community Hospital.
The
fire was contained in the kitchen, Eiswerth said,
although smoke damage was extensive and the house
is uninhabitable. The fire was put out fairly
quickly.
It
was a team effort, said Eiswerth.
The
firefighters will be recognized at Thursday's
City Council meeting for their efforts in
rescuing the boy.
