owner will lead this year's Heart Walk J.D. Holmes, owner of Gold's Gym in Fayette County and Peachtree City has been named the new teams vice-chair of the 1999 metro Atlanta American Heart Walk. Holmes and more than 5,000 people are expected to walk at Turner Field Nov.7 to help the American Heart Association raise money for its mission to prevent heart disease and stroke. The 1999 Heart Walk expects to raise more than $600,000 for the American Heart Association's research and education program. This year marks the fourth year the walk has been a metro-wide event. Companies throughout the region are promoting employee health and wellness by organizing company walking teams. Holmes will be working with local volunteers in Fayette County to organize company teams and attract sponsorships. In addition to the company teams, there will be hundreds of heart disease and stroke survivors walking, who will be honored with special red caps to show they are fighting back against these deadly diseases.
