offer summer soccer camps By MICHAEL BOYLAN Sports Editor Atlanta's professional soccer team, the Silverbacks, will offer a sleep-over soccer camp and a soccer day camp to dedicated players throughout the state this summer. The sleep-over camp will be on the campus of North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Ga. The camp is open to boys and girls between 8 and 17. There will be two sessions; June 27 to July 2, and Aug. 1-6. The camps are run by professional coaches: Mike Balson, current general manager of the Silverbacks,; Nuno Piteira, coach of the Silverbacks; Angus McAlpine, U.S.A. Olympic coach and former head coach of the Atlanta Ruckus; and Ian Gillies, Scottish professional player and former assistant coach of the Ruckus. Top professional and collegiate players will make appearances at the camps. To register, call 770-736-5223 or 678-290-1385. Balson, Gillies and McAlpine also will be present at the day camp that will be at the Glenloch soccer fields in Peachtree City Aug. 9-13. The day camp is open to boys and girls 5-15 and will be offered as a half-day or full-day camp. The half-day runs 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is for players 5-7. The full-day camp is for players 8-15 and runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 678-290-1385. .
