Obituaries

Dorothy Agnes Clark

Dorothy Agnes Harris Clark, 76, Riverdale, Fayette County, died May 26, 1999. She was born March 22, 1934 in Senoia, the daughter of Homer J. and Daisy Harris.

She was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church, Riverdale, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, College Park, where she served for many years as financial secretary and an active volunteer. She had been actively involved in the S. R. Young Elementary School PTA and the College Park High School PTA.

Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro.

Survivors include her husband, David L. “Pete” Clark, Riverdale; daughters, Barbara Clark Bassett, Greensboro, N.C. and Beth Clark Zoffman, Atlanta; grandsons, Jim Bassett, Jeff Bassett, Christ Bassett and Andrew Zoffman; and a granddaughter, Shari Zoffmann.

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 12 Perimeter Center East, Ste. 1200, Atlanta, Ga. 30325 or Christian City, Inc., 7290 Lester Road, Union City, Ga. 30291.

Amelia Josephine Dyche

Amelia Josephine Dyche, 83, Fayetteville, died June 4, 1999. She was born Nov. 14, 1915 in Fulton County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Turner Dyche.

Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Scott Davis officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Survivors include a son, Marvet Dyche, Mobile, Ala.; daughters Beatrice Dyche, Fayetteville and Shirley Fisher, Brooks; grandchildren, Dee, Cindy, Tony, Michael and Jeff; and a great-grandchild, Conan.

Dixie Joan Hagist

Dixie “Joan” Hagist, 63, Fayetteville, died May 28, 1999. She was born June 13, 1935 in Atlanta, Ga. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Jonesboro.

Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Layton Sampson and the Rev. Cecil Holcomb officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta.

Survivors include her husband, Garold (Jerry) Hagist, Sr., Fayetteville; sons, Garold William and Marie Hagist, Jr., Lawrenceville and Russell and Lydia Hagist, Douglasville; daughters, Michele and Scott White, Peachtree City, Kimberly and Steve Rolling, Jonesboro and Jennifer and Thomas Breinig, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Holly White, Scott White, Jr., Zachary White and Katlin Rolling; and sisters, Kathleen Chiera, Silver Springs, Md. and Betty Shellhorse, Ellenwood, Ga.

Ray F. Geiger

Ray F. Geiger, 69, Peachtree City, died June 4, 1999. He was born July 26, 1929 in Parma, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, the son of Claude Lowell and Ruth Augusta Sieberher Geiger.

Services were held at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City with the Rev. Russell W. Barr officiating. Interment was at Woodvale Union Cemetery, Parma, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Arline Svejda Geiger, Peachtree City; a daughter, Claudia and Kennard Rawlinson, Gay, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Kaala Rea Rawlinson, Gay.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carmel United Methodist Church Building Fund, Route 1, Gay, Ga. 30218.

Jeannette Heath Shirah

Jeanette Heath Shirah, 59, Fayetteville, died June 3, 1999. She was born Dec. 17, 1939 in Stokes County, N.C.

Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Hugh Shirah officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Shirah; a daughter, Cindy Purcell, Greensboro, N.C.; a stepson, Charles A. Shirah, Covington; a granddaughter, Crystal Purcell, Greensboro, N.C.; her father, Walter Heath, Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Dempsey and Jo Heath, Weaverville, N.C., Billy and Joy Heath, Greensboro, N.C. and Raeford J. Heath, Summerfield, N.C.; and sisters, Maggie and Roy Creede, Greensboro, N.C. and Dianne and Joel Woods, Jonesboro.

Mary P. Anderson

Mary P. Anderson, 82, Peachtree City, died May 30, 1999. She was born April 30, 1917 in West Point, Troup County, Ga. She was a homemaker and a secretary and had taught Sunday School for 35 years. She had lived her life in parts of Georgia and Alabama, returning to Georgia in later years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara L. Jackson.

Graveside services were held at the Senoia City Cemetery with the Rev. T. O. Padgett officiating.

Survivors include sons, Michael D. and Mary D. Anderson, Wetumpka, Ala. and Randy and Deborah Anderson, Athens, Ala.; a son-in-law, Denny S. Jackson, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Forrest W. and Nicole Jackson, Warner Robins, Ga., Christopher S. Jackson, Griffin, Amy Anderson and Jonathan M. Anderson, both of Athens, and Rachel Jackson, Wetumpka, Ala.; and great-great-granddaughters, Rachel Jackson and Rebekah Jackson, both of Warner Robins.
