Fayetteville streets to be repaved

Eight Fayetteville streets will be resurfaced soon under a contract between the city and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The contract calls for 3.13 miles of resurfacing on the six streets.

Funding for the projects comes from Georgia's Local Assistance Road Program, initiated in 1978 to help local governments with their paving needs.

Each year all cities submit a LARP priority list, DOT reviews the list and decides which roads can be paved in that year's budget.

Slated for repaving this year are:

  • Georgia Avenue west from Ga. Highway 92 to the dead end.
  • LaFayette Avenue from Ga. Highway 85 to Ga. Highway 54.
  • Oak Street from Hwy. 54 to the city limits.
  • Running Bear Trail to the dead end.
  • White Dove Avenue from Hood Avenue to Running Bear Trail.
  • Winona Drive from Running Bear Trail to Kelly Drive.
  • Habersham Drive from Hwy. 85 to Habersham Place.
  • Jimmie Mayfield Avenue from Jeff Davis Drive to Hwy. 92.
