American Century renaming bank

More than 250 shareholders gathered May 20 at Eagle's Landing Country Club to attend the first shareholders meeting of American Century Banking Corporation.

The Henry County-based bank started operations last June and has grown to $21.1 million in total assets.

During the meeting, American Century announced two major initiatives for the future.

First, the bank's leadership announced the bank would be called American Community Bank of Georgia starting July 1.

“We think the new name represents the best of what the bank has to offer; a local touch with a technological reach,” said G. Guy Quinn, president and CEO of American Century.

Second, the bank will introduce a new level of banking technology to improve the performance and access to its state-of-the-art banking system.

As part of this new product offering, American Century will be one of the first banks in Georgia to offer customers Internet connection service, which will be available at a discounted price to all customers simply by maintaining a checking account with the bank.

Business clients will be able to access Web site development support, advertise on the bank Web site and obtain assistance with Y2K issues via the Internet service.

“Having a banking relationship with American Century will soon mean having the option of face-to-face contact or completing your banking activities at your home or office,” Quinn said. “While our clients know that we are only a short drive away if they require an in-person meeting, there are many banking services that they prefer to complete conveniently via computer.”
