That means a two-week delay for annexation and rezoning requests that are before the council, including developer Bob Rolader's request that the council annex 144 acres at Ga. Highway 34 and New Hope Road and place part of the property in office-institutional and part in R-22 (residential with minimum half-acre lots) zoning categories. The Planning Commission last week voted to recommend that council annex the land and comply with Rolader's request for offices along Hwy. 314, but suggested R-30 zoning for the residential portion. R-30 requires that home lots be at least 30,000 square feet. *Travelers on Ga. highways 85 and 54 in downtown Fayetteville may notice that changes have begun. Landscaping crews were tentatively scheduled to begin planting thousands of crape myrtles and other trees, bushes and flowers this weekend as part of a beautification program for the highway medians. More than six tractor trailer truck loads of plants are temporarily housed at the city's First Manassas Mile Road water plant. The medians have been plowed and planting should take about three weeks, say officials. The city also is currently taking bids for replacing sidewalks on Lanier Avenue with brick pavers, and installing historic-looking street lights as part of Main Street Fayetteville's downtown improvement projects.
