Ricky Jackson of Peachtree City was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty last week to kidnapping, aggravated assault and burglary in connection with the abduction of Margaret Logan last August. The indictment stated that Jackson entered the 83-year-old Logan's house in Fayetteville and held her against her will, causing bruises to her arms and face. He intended to take her purse and five rifles, police said. Jackson was sentenced Thursday to 10 years on the kidnaping charge and five years apiece on the other two. All three sentences will run concurrently. A Riverdale man was sentenced Thursday in Fayette Superior Court to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Gregory Stephen McCormick, who was convicted in 1992 of violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, was arrested Dec. 4, 1997, on the weapons charge. He also was charged at that time with posession of marijuana and obstructing an officer for giving false information concerning the identify of a female who was with him at the time of the arrest. McCormick received 12 months each on the marijuana and obstruction charges, both of which are misdemeanors. All counts are concurrent. Wapoinica Lakil Coggins of Griffin was indicted Thursday for theft by shoplifting and giving false information to officers. She allegedly stole merchandise from Marshall's last June and gave a false birthdate, claiming to be three years younger than she was. Wesley Langston of Clarkston was indicted Thursday on one count of entering an auto with intent to commit theft. He allegedly broke into a car last June.
