The purpose statement of the Braelinn Baptist Church in Peachtree City states: "Our vision is to attract and win people to faith in Jesus Christ and church membership, develop them to fully devoted and fulfilled followers of Christ, and equip them for an effective and meaningful ministry to people in order to glorify God."

Helping the Sunday morning congregation of 1,000 attendees attain this goal is the senior pastor, the Rev. Keith Moore, who has guided the church since its beginning in January 1987.

He was reared not far away in Bremen, Ga. He first began to feel pulled into the ministry at the age of 18, as a freshman at the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton. While getting his bachelors in municipal recreation, he headed next to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served as a youth pastor in Texas while working on his masters and after graduating, came to New Hope Baptist Church as an associate pastor.

He is currently working on his doctorate through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest.

After five years, it was apparent to both the church and to him that a need existed for a new congregation. Three church agencies were asked for their recommendations as to where they thought a new church was needed and all three said, "Peachtree City."

In March 1987 the first group met in the Huddleston Elementary School, and then met at McIntosh High School for five years. In August 1994 they moved into their present location.

How long they can stay here is being considered by a committee at this time due to the success of the church and its programs, it is entirely possible that they may have to locate in another place, but still in the general area.

Moore is married to a fellow Bremen native, Allison, and they have two daughters, Leigh Anne, 16, and Mary Beth, 10.

Asked what is important to him personally about his congregation, he said, "It is satisfying to see the people's lives that have been enriched over the last 12 years. We are in the business of transforming lives and seeing that come about has been very heartwarming."

Braelinn Baptist has Sunday morning worship services at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

It is at 777 Robinson Road, Peachtree City and can be reached at 770-487-6691.
