The Landmark Christian School girls' track team took second place in the Division A state meet this past weekend in Albany. The Lady War Eagles scored 53 points, 22 less than Metter High School's first place score. Landmark was 22 points ahead of Athens Academy's score. Landmark's strength was the relay team of Terri Curtis, Celeste Lee, Trisha Van't Wout and Rashedah Arnold. They took the gold medal in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:07.68. That time set a new school record for the 4X400 relay. The same four girls took second place in the 4X100-meter relay with a time of 49.34. Rashedah Arnold, a freshman at Landmark, made her mark in other events, too. She placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.57. She then set a new school record in the 800-meter at 2:28.30. Senior Terri Curtis set a new school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.08, which was good enough for a second place finish. She also placed second in the 100-meter dash with 12.67. Senior Celeste Lee placed fourth in the 400 meter dash. Distance runners Melisa Register and senior Rachel McNary placed sixth and seventh respectively in the 3,200. Melissa's time of 12:44.20 set yet another school record. Rachel McNary set the 1,600-meter run school record earlier this season with a time of 5:43.51. |
