Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor has appointed Senator Greg Hecht of the 34th District to serve as a member of the Code Revision Commission.

"In addition to having already served his district in both the House and the Senate, Senator Hecht is a talented litigator who began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Clayton County," Lieutenant Governor Taylor said. "I am pleased to appoint him to the Code Revision Commission. I know he will serve the citizens of Georgia well on this prestigious commission."

The 15 member commission is composed of the Lieutentant Governor, the Speaker of the House, four members from the Georgia State Senate, four members from the House of Representatives, and five members appointed by the president of the State Bar of Georgia. The commission is responsible for the publication of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated. This includes all supplements, revision of volumes, and licensing for the use of the code on CD-ROM products and legal research computer systems.

"I am extremely humbled to be appointed to this critical commission," Senator Hecht said. "Working with the leadership of the legislature to insure that the codification of the law follows the legislature's expressed intent will mean a great deal to Georgians. We take this endeavor seriously and will be working very hard for the families of Georgia."

Senator Hecht also serves as vice-chair of the Judiciary committee and the Corrections, Correctional Institutions and Property committee. He serves as a member of the Senate committees on Appropriations and Defense, Science and Technology.
