Ann Scott, of Peachtree City, was honored recently for her service to Girl Scouting. She was awarded the Appreciation Pin at the Pine Valley Girl Scout Council's annual Awards and Recognition Dinner, held at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church.

Scott serves as a Service Unit Director and has been a troop organizer for several years. She is actively involved in recruiting girls and adult leaders. Girl membership in Scott's service unit increased by seven percent this year and her leadership has guided new and old leaders through a successful year.

Matthew Hines Bell was a recipient of one of the 1999 Woodmen of the World Awards . The awards are presented annually to senior History majors at Berry College, who have done the best academic work in American history. Bell is a senior History and English major, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawson F. Bell of Peachtree City, Ga..

Air Force Senior Airman Erica A. O'Neil has graduated from the Airman Leadership School at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton,Ohio. The course is the first of three levels of recurring professional military education used to develop and cultivate leadership ad supervisory skills required of airman in today's Air Force.

O'Neil is a medical technician journeyman with the 74th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson. She is the daughter of Vickie and stepdaughter of Steve Wood of Peachtree City. Her father and stepmother are David and Joanie O'Neil of Lynchburg, Va.

Marine Pfc. William M. Brady, son of Keiren Q. and William M. Brady Sr. of Peachtree City, recently reported for duty at Naval Aviation Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Fla. He is a 1998 graduate of McIntosh High School.

Air Force Airman Clinton W. Neill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs and received special training in human relations.

In addition, airman who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the community college of the Air Force.

Neill is the son of Carol V. and Donald A. Neill of Senoia, Ga.

Army Pvt. Corey J. Gaissert has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic combat training. During the eight weeks of training, the soldier will receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

Gaissert is the son of Dave and Cathy Gaissert of Peachtree City, Ga. His grandparents are Al and Polly Thompson of Fayetteville, Ga.

Army Pvt. Michael C. East has arrived at Fort Knox, Ky., to complete basic combat training. East is a graduate of Youth Challenge Academy, Fort Stewart, Ga. and is the son of June and Charles East of Peachtree City, Ga.
