Summer school registration under way

Early registration for middle and high school summer school classes is now open until June 4 at local schools. The regular registration date for elementary, middle and high school students is June 14.

Peeples Elementary School will be the elementary site for registration and the summer classes beginning June 16 and ending July 29. Registration is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. June 14. Classes in reading or social studies will be 8 - 10:30 a.m. Math or science will taught from 10:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Fee for each session is $210. A nonrefundable deposit of $40 is due no later than June 16, along with a completed application. Personal checks are to be made payable to Fayette County Board of Education. A returned check charge will be $60.

Summer classes for high school and middle school students will be at Rising Starr Middle School and Starr's Mill High School. Regular registration will 8 a.m. to noon at each respective school. Classes begin June 16 and end July 29. Graduation activities will be July 29. The fee for high school art and science classes is $225. Tuition for all other classes is $210.

Tuition for out-of-county residents is $295. Late (after June 16) registration fee is $50. Notification fee is $5. All classes meet Monday through Thursday starting at 7:30 a.m. for middle school students and 8:30 a.m. for high school students. All classes should be attended and no more than two absences are allowed in each class to receive credit.
