* Fayette County's government will pay for more new records management equipment and a new central computer outright, rather than leasing the items or paying over time.

County commissioners unanimously decided to use the direct payment method rather than pay thousands of dollars in interest after getting that recommendation from finance director Emory McHugh last week.

Equipment to scan court records and make them available to the public on computer will cost $204,000. Leasing would have cost more than $7,000 month. The new central computer will cost $203,624, instead of $50,000 a year.

* Argonne Forest, a proposed 163-home subdivision with a 20-lot office park at its entrance off Ga. Highway 314, will be on the Fayetteville Planning Commission's agenda Tuesday.

Developers are asking the city to annex 144 acres at 314 and New Hope Road for the project, and zone the property to allow the homes and offices.

Among other agenda items, GTO's restaurant on Ga. Highway 85 south will ask for approval of development plans for additions and renovations, and Main Street Square developers will ask for approval of development plans for an addition to the office/retail development off Hwy. 85 on W. Lafayette Avenue.

, The Fayetteville chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society will present its annual show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Sams Auditorium.

Advance tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $5 for children under 12. Tickets at the door are $10, $7 and $5. For information phone 770-228-2023. Fax ticket orders to 770-228-9637.
