Have you ever sat back and watched an event unfold right before your eyes and after the event say to yourself, "I sure wish I had taken the opportunity to be a part of that great event"? Here's your chance once again!

On Tuesday night May 25th at the gym at Stars Mill High School, at 7:PM, there will be a public forum to discuss what we can do as a community to prevent this kind of violence in our schools. A grass roots organization has been formed entitled S.C.A.T. which stands for "Students, Community Against Terrorism "It was conceived and organized by a wonderful concerned mother by the name of Jennifer Hall. Jennifer is a mother who, among other achievements, is a graduate of Fayette County High School and has a deeply held conviction that to sit and watch events unfold right before her eyes and do nothing , would be to become part of the problem and not the solution.

Jennifer on her own, with a strong faith in God and a strong love for her family and her community, went to the telephones and formed this grass roots organization. Jennifer has spent her own money to print flyers and to very professionally present her case before concerned citizens and representatives of the State and officials of the Fayette County School System. I was at the first meeting and witnessed this wonderful woman's passion for doing something for our students and our community before we could possibly become a statistic on the evening news!

Jennifer is what America is all about. We often forget our pioneer roots of men and women who struck out on their own with every obstacle imaginable staring them in the face. These people trusted God with their lives, their futures and their fortunes and He blessed them with this great country.

Personally, I am not ready to turn over this country to evil events and activities like what happened in Littleton, Colorado and do nothing. If I did so, it would be an insult to my father's grave out in Fairburn. On his tombstone it reads "Robert B. Herndon, Chaplain U. S. Army WWII, Korea.

Yesterday, Thursday the 6th of May, on the square in Fayetteville, with the threat of rain at any minute, students, parents and educators, stood and prayed for our students, our schools and the brave teachers who teach our children day in and day out. The World Day of Prayer activities were wonderful. Thank you organizers and attendees.

Be at the meeting on May 25th and be heard!!
