The Starr's Mill Lady Panthers, ranked first in the state and 12th in the nation, faced the Heritage Lady Patriots on Saturday night. Starr's Mill was intensely focused as they were to square off against the third ranked team in AAA. Heritage had only lost once during the season, but it was the Lady Panthers who struck first.

Janet Burke scored twelve minutes into the game off of an Alice Martin pass. Burke scored again three minutes later off of an assist from Kacy Murray. Allison Graham scored 14 minutes later, making a Heritage comeback all the more unlikely. Alice Martin scored an unassisted goal with eight minutes remaining in the half to make the score 4-0 and Amanda Thurber got into the action, scoring right before the half off of a Kacy Murray assist.

The second half was the same as the first. Kacy Murray scored an unassisted goal three minutes into the second half. Amanda Thurber netted her second goal of the game less than six minutes later. Alicia Schulz then made a beautiful pass which Katey Price headed into the net. Marcy Hubbard scored the final goal for Starr's Millas she drove up the sideline and faked out the hard charging Heritage keeper.

The defense for Starr's Mill was as impressive as they had been all season, limiting Heritage to nine shots. Starr's Mill had 34 shots in the game and kept up their torrid scoring pace and their enormous amount of pressure. Starr's Mill will travel to North Gwinnett High School for a game tonight at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the final against the winner of the Woodward Academy/Marist game. The Lady Panthers have defeated both teams this season.
