More gun control laws would not have prevented Colorado deaths

The massacre at Columbine High School a few days ago was shocking to most every person in the country. But, the reaction of liberals such as Bill Clinton was almost as outrageous. "More gun control laws will solve the problem" is the response from the typically lame leftists. The high school murderers broke every federal law concerning weapons before their dastardly act and 20 more laws, 200 more laws, nor 2000 more laws would not have stopped them. The one fact that liberals cannot grasp is that guns do not kill people...people kill people. A gun could sit in a gun case or closet for a thousand years and no one would ever get killed by that gun. Another person must pick that gun up and pull the trigger in order for the gun to work.

Thomas Jefferson and our forefathers were not looking a few years ahead when they wrote the Constitution; they were looking two hundred years ahead. They specifically wrote the second amendment (the right to own a gun) to prevent criminals from harming citizens.

The police, God bless them, are not here to prevent crimes and offer protection to law abiding citizens. They are here to take finger prints, collect evidence, interview witnesses, locate and, hopefully, arrest the perpetrator after the crime has been committed. In the meantime, the victim has still been robbed, raped, or murdered. Prevention and protection is strictly up to the person being attacked.

Florida Sate Criminologist, Gary Kleck, discovered, after an exhaustive study, that a gun is used for the purpose of self-defense nearly 7,000 times a day in this country. That is over 2 million times a year. The media will not allow that fact to ever be broadcast.

Perhaps, if teachers and principals were required to carry a gun, the number of deaths at Columbine High could have been reduced. We must protect and defend the right to bear arms from those on the left, no matter what the cost.
