A bolt of lightning caused a fire to a Peachtree City residence Wednesday afternoon. A call came in at approximately 2:30 p.m. concerning a fire at 219 Southwick Lane, in the Heritage subdivision in Kedron Village, according to Capt. Ed Eiswerth of the Peachtree City Fire Department. The fire began in the attic of the two-story residence after lightning apparently struck the roof, Eiswerth said. The 911 call was placed by neighbors who saw smoke coming from the house. Some neighbors also claimed to have seen the lightning hit the roof. None of the residents of the affected house were at home when it happened, according to Eiswerth. Fire Department personnel were on the scene shortly after the call and putting water on the blaze within a minute or two, Eiswerth said. Firefighters were able to work from the inside of the house, and they saved the entire first floor, half of the second floor and half of the attic, he reported. "It was a good stop," he said, noting that no one was injured and much of the house was saved.
