Music Midtown back to rock Atlanta

It has been said that music soothes the savage beast. You may not feel very savage or in dire need of soothing, but who said something has to be necessary to be fun. Music Midtown returns this weekend for another year of music and merriment. Still without a permanent residence, the festival has moved to the area surrounding Centennial Olympic Park. It is accessible from three different MARTA stations and stretches out to cover 12 city blocks. There are a number of different stages playing certain brands of music and nationally recognized acts such as, Willie Nelson, Hole, Widespread Panic and Isaac Hayes will play the festival.

In fact, there are over 100 bands playing over the weekend. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or any Ticketmaster outlet, such as Publix, Blockbuster Music or Backstage Music. You can either buy a one day pass or a three day pass. A one day pass is $23 for Friday or Saturday, $25 for Sunday and a three day pass is $30 (definitely, the better deal).

The festvities kick off on Friday night at 6 p.m. Saturday's music will be begin at Noon, as will Sunday's. The music will end at Midnight on both Friday and Saturday, Sunday's action ends at 10 p.m.

Music Midtown is accessible, inexpensive and full of talented acts. The more support that it gets from the community, it is more likely to return and get a permamnent location. So whether you're going to mellow out to the jazz stylings of Branford Marsalis or rock out to the abrasive Detroit stylings of Kid Rock, like this reporter, check out Music Midtown.
