Hustle for Hospice run set for May 1

The sixth annual “Hustle for Hospice” 5K run/walk hosted by Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City is scheduled for Saturday, May 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Representatives from Buffalo's Cafe and WSB Radio/TV's Captain Herb Emory will be on hand to get the race activities started. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. for runners and 8:35 a.m. for walkers.

Although preregistration deadline has passed, those wishing to enter can still register the day of the race for a fee of $20. Registrants should plan to arrive early to pick up packets before the run/walk. The race will begin near the hospice in Union City at Lester and Red Oak roads.

There will be T-shirts and prizes for all participants and several drawings will be held throughout the day. A prize will be awarded to the team with the most participants and clubs and churches are being asked to encourage their members to participate. A special prize will be given to the individual who has raised the most money for Hospice through sponsorship solicitation.

Southwest Christian Hospice is a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to serving the terminally ill and their families. Referrals for the inpatient facility come from throughout the state of Georgia. The homecare program now serves the entire Southern Crescent—South Fulton, Fayette, Henry, Coweta and Clayton counties.
