Fayetteville Church of Christ breaks ground for new facility on Redwine

The Fayetteville Church of Christ announces ground breaking for a new facility on the corner of Redwine and Price Roads in Fayetteville. After a picnic on the grounds, a ceremony to commemorate this event was held on Sunday, April 25th, 1999. On this site a building is planned to include an auditorium that will seat 650 people, offices, class rooms, and a fellowship hall. “We are excited about moving into the new millennium and the potential this new building will have for serving the needs of our community,” explained Scott Harp, the minister for the church.

The church of Christ has been a part of the Fayetteville community for nearly 50 years. In the early 1950's tent meetings were held on the lot where the old Railroad Depot in downtown is today. Other meeting places include the American Legion Post House, the former Fayetteville School Band House, and at 300 South Glynn Street. The previous church building utilized is on the corner of Ga. Highway 85 North and Pine Street across from the Fayette Pavilion. After outgrowing that facility they have made their temporary home at 207 Jeff Davis Place across from Pike Nursery in Fayetteville while the new building is under construction at Redwine Road.

This is a congregation on the move for the Lord in a number of ways. Recently the youth group excelled at the annual lads to Leaders/Leaderettes conference in Atlanta earlier in April. Many of the group brought home certificates, medals, and trophies for their efforts in song leading, puppet shows, art work, and scripture reading to name a few. Also, the congregation has embraced today's technology with an excellent web site at ww.fcoc.com. Credits go to Vicki Baker for her efforts in developing this site that informs the community of the church's focus on the bible, history, activities, and other important information.

The elders of the Fayetteville Church of Christ are Ray Cozart, Virgil Richie, Wayne Nash, David Lee, and Bill Benton. The church invites everyone to visit their worship services at any time. They meet at 9 a.m. Sunday for Bible Classes and 10 a.m. for worship. Evening services are at 6 p.m. with midweek Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. For more information call 770-461-3617 or visit the website at www.fcoc.com.
