Fayette schools rank at top

By PAT NEWMAN
Staff Writer

Fayette County schools are once again ranked tops in the state, based upon reports issued by the Council for School Performance, an independent educational council.

The county has the highest number of students in the state passing the high school graduation test, low percentages of dropouts, low percentages of students taking remedial courses in college, overall high scores on standardized tests and a high percentage of students completing basic computer skills courses.

Fayette County school superintendent Dr. John DeCotis said, ”We are pleased with our ratings; it also gives us an idea of what we need to work on.”

The report also cited some schools that have lower average test scores in certain areas compared to similar schools.
