Construction hopping in Fayetteville

Fayette Pavilion developer Stan Thomas hopes to start construction on Upton's department store Monday, if permits are ready in time.

The store will be the first in phase three of the shopping center, followed quickly by Belk, Kohl's and JoAnne Fabrics.

Phase three will occupy 50 acres on the Ga. Highway 314 side of the Pavilion property, which runs all the way between 314 and Ga. Highway 85 across from Pine Trail Road.

Fayetteville is a hotbed of construction activity currently. Grading also has begun for Applebee's restaurant and a super Eckerd pharmacy at the southwest corner of Hwy. 85 and Banks Road, and for a Lowe's superstore next to Banks Crossing shopping center, also on Hwy. 85.

Final permits aren't yet ready, but developers of a Barnes and Noble shopping center at Pine Trail Road and Hwy. 85, across from the Pavilion, say they hope to start work by mid-May.

Pavilion developer Thomas also is seeking annexation into Fayetteville for a parcel near Rent-All Plaza, next to Pavilion, that will hold a Ryan's Steakhouse and another as yet unnamed restaurant. He added he hopes to begin construction soon on O'Charley's and Steak and Shake on an adjacent site that is already in the city.
