Fayette countians suffering from various addictions are invited to join the Oasis Group, a new ministry of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

"We do not take the place of any other traditional group, nor do we offer therapy or replace medical needs," a spokesman said. "We wish only to reach out to the addicted and hurting person, letting them know we care by sharing the 12 steps of recovery with Christ at the center."

The group says it hopes to offer a safe, hospitable and respectful atmosphere of fellowship.

Meetings are held on Friday evenings at the Smith House next to the church at 235 Stonewall Avenue.
