Father Mark Johnson, Curate at Peachtree City's Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church, is assisting a Milledgeville church in its efforts to relocate to the downtown area. Fr. Johnson was assigned to Milledgeville's Church of the Good Shepherd by Georgia Bishop John Holloway and serves as Missionary Vicar there. Johnson has been spending several days a week in Milledgeville helping members to "clean, tear out walls, paint and generally renovate" a facility in the heart of the city. Johnson was recognized by Bishop Holloway for his efforts during the church's first service held recently. "The next step," Johnson said, "will be to advertise and evangelize." The missions congregation plans a house-to-house visitation program in the vicinity of the church and also intends to train church members to witness and extend invitations to their family and friends. "Mark has already done an incredible job," said Canon David Epps, rector at Christ the King and member of The Bishop's Council. "We all look forward to the continued growth and ministry of the Church of the Good Shepherd." |
