Dining Guide
By F.C. Foodie
The South Metro area is virtually exploding with new restaurants. One of the new "Restaurant Rows" in the area is along busy Ga. Highway 34 in Newnan near Interstate 85. Every time I drive by, it seems like another restaurant has sprouted out of the ground. O'Charley's and Longhorn have recently set up shop in the corridor, but this month's Citizens' Choice for dining is Texas Roadhouse, located just before Interstate 85. As you walk into the establishment, a feeling of the Old West washes over you. Large paintings of local icons, such as country singer Alan Jackson and Atlanta Braves' manager Bobby Cox, give the restaurant a local twist. When you walk through the door, look to your right and you can see some of the choice cuts available for your meal. The restaurant features a wide variety of cuts of meat, including ribeyes and filets. Other items on the menu include steak tips, kebobs and salmon. One of the unusual treats at the restaurant is a bucket of roasted peanuts on each table. Crack those bad boys and throw the shells on the floor, our waitress told us, and we gladly complied. The restaurant also features a wide variety of side items, including a baked sweet potato, that serve as perfect compliments to the perfectly cooked steaks. The quality of the food is good, and the prices are relatively cheap. Entrees are in the $7-$15 range and the restaurant is a welcome addition to the dining scene. Would you like to tell us what you think of this story?
