Pasasonic in Peachtree City will receive a special award from Governor Roy Barnes next week. The Governor's Existing Industry Appreciation Award for large manufacturers will be presented Monday, April 19. It is given by the Georgia Economic Developers Association. Panasonic is being honored for its "substantial economic and social contribution to the Peachtree community," according to a news release from the GEDA. The company relocated to Peachtree City in 1987. "Today Matsuhita Communication Industrial Corporation of U.S.A, is at the forefront of the automotive OEM and business telecom industries," the GEDA statement said. The largest statewide association of professional economic developers in the United States with more than 1,000 members, the GEDA provides networking and professional development resources to its members and advocates public policies to support quality economic development and job creation. The award presentation and recognition will be at the Georgia World Congress Center following the monthly GEDA luncheon.
