Ahh, springtime in Georgia.

Now that the Masters golf tournament has officially opened the season of renewal, Coweta County residents can turn their head to another familiar rite of spring- the Progressive Dinner in Senoia.

The dinner is held every spring and is sponsored by the Senoia Area Historical Society. This year's event is set for April 23 and 24. The dinner is the society's primary fund raiser and is one of the more anticipated events on the eastern side of the county.

This year, the progressive dinner features five courses set in five of the town's historic homes. Patrons at this year's dinner will start out with appetizers at the McKnight-Carmichael-Byrom House. The home is the headquarters of the society and visitors can see how the home has been restored.

The dinner winds through the streets of the town and features a stop at the McKeehan home for the entree. While dining, visitors are encouraged to wander through the homes and see how the owners have chosen to decorate them.

At the McKeehan home, patrons are privy to a wide collection of arts, antiques and collectibles the owner collected during his tenure as an antique dealer in New York and his travels around the world.

During the tour, visitors also get a mini-architecture lesson as homes on the tour range from Queen Anne to Neo-Classical.

Tickets for the dinner are $35 each and only 70 guests can be accommodated each evening, so interested patrons should make reservations immediately. Reservations close next Wed. at 5 p.m. For more information or to make reservations, phone 770-599-6802.
