Expansion at a local church and at McIntosh High School are the main topics of a fairly light agenda for Monday night's regular monthly meeting of the Peachtree City Planning Commission.

A revised conceptual site plan is being considered for an addition at Holly Grove AME Church, on Holly Grove Road between Robinson Road and Redwine Road, in the southern end of the city.

A site plan was approved by the commission more than a year ago, but it was never acted upon by the church. When the Holly Grove congregation made a few changes, the commission asked them to return for another look.

The addition will consist of about 1,800 square feet of classroom space. The main difference from the original site plan is that the expansion has been moved from one side of the original building to the other.

A conceptual site plan is also under consideration for a practice field at McIntosh. The school currently has only one, which is shared by P.E. classes, the football team, soccer teams and band, among others. Such heavy year-round use is wearing on the field, and the football team sometimes practices on its own stadium field, which makes it more worn when used for games.

The proposal under consideration would provide for a separate field for P.E. classes and the football team. It would be irrigated and have no lights or bleachers.

The county school system has owned a large tract next to McIntosh for several years without developing it. A portion of that land would be cleared and graded for the proposed practice field.
